Eddie Izzard Franken Collections Swatches and Recipes- Part I

I still have a couple of polishes to add to the Doctor Who Collection, but I don't have them finished yet. I  have very specific colors in mind, and have done a lot of testing. I'm also having an issue getting all of the shimmer out of the bottles I want to use.

To keep me from going completely bonkers, I started another collection that has been in my head for almost a year. This is part one of that collection, inspired by Eddie Izzard. This collection is 12 polishes, divided into two sets, Executive Transvestite and Action Transvestite.

I took pictures for these and had more trouble than I normally do. Before I uploaded them, I decided to take a picture of one of the cats. When I went to change the setting on the camera, I realized it was already in "cat" mode. Most of the pictures were crap, and I had to redo them, which explains my terrible cuticles. I wore one polish from this collection last week, and took photos of it then, which accounts for the difference in nail length, and disappearing henna.

Speaking of henna, please ignore the giant gap on my index finger. Acetone eats henna, and I really like this design. I was especially glad I left the giant gap after I had to redo swatches.

All swatches are over Gelous, and topped with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. The recipes were mixed in 0.45 fl oz bottles, and I recommend adding the most abundant color, or clear (when used) last as to prevent overfilling.  Now, on to the photos.

Executive Transvestite - dusty mauve with a hint of red shimmer and glitter (1 coat)

The shimmer and glitter are more evident in person.

250 drops Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow
150 drops Maybelline French Tip White
100 drops OPI Greenwich Village
50 drops Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Red Carpet
50 drops Wet 'n' Wild Jezebel
50 drops FingerPaints Tough Art to Follow
50 drops OPI Makes Men Blush

Pants Left in Wash - blue-grey jelly/creme - I love this finish, it has the depth of a jelly, but hides the imperfections in my nails that jellies tend to highlight. (2 coats)

This one freaked out my camera, so I had to do a lot of editing.

Both of these are fairly accurate, as it appears to change color in different lighting.

It never looked like this (unedited photo), however.

25 drops Maybelline French Tip White
25 drops Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Sun Kissed
50 drops Sally Hansen Gray by Gray
50 drops NYC Sidewalked
50 drops LA Colors Static Electricity (I think, it's a medium blue creme)
100 drops clear
300 drops Maybelline Sheer Dream (pale, slightly pinky-peach sheer)

Jellyfish Drive-by - soft white jelly with clear glitter and iridescent glass fleck glitter  (3 coats, I think)

The glitter is more apparent in low lighting, which is not conducive to photography, at least not idiot amateur photography.

75 drops Jesse's Girl Firefly (similar to China Glaze White Cap)
150 drops Maybelline French Tip White
150 drops Confetti Tiara
225 drops Maybelline Sheer Dream

Do You Have A Flag? - stark white with fine, blue and red glitter (2-3 coats, I can't remember)

The glitter in this one does sparkle, I guess I should have taken a blurred shot to show it better.

20 drops unnamed red glitter snowman (red glitter in clear base)
20 drops LA Colors Art Deco Blue Glitter
250 drops Wet 'n' Wild French White Creme
300 drops Maybelline Sheer Whisper

Pavlov's Cat - Jasper inspired, soft golden metallic with orange micro glitter (1 coat)

25 drops Maybelline Sheer Creme (you could probably do without this, or substitute clear)
100 drops Cover Girl Mattalic Bronze
100 drops Milani Gold Glitz
200 drops Cover Girl NailSlicks Sun Kissed
200 drops Jordana Pop Art The Stylist

Curly Toed Miracle - taupe/tan jelly with purple glass fleck, iridescent, and blue glitter (2 coats ? - I really should keep notes)

I think this is one of my favorite frankens ever, and I am hesitant to give out the formula. I suspect others will not love it as much as I do, though.

150 drops Confetti Ice, Ice Baby
150 drops Confetti Pink Confetti
150 drops FingerPaints Haute Taupe
75 drops FingerPaints Don't Make A Scene
50 drops Jesse's Girl Confetti
25 drops confetti Tahitian Turquoise
25 drops LA Colors Color Craze (blue glitter, I don't know the name, similar to FingerPaints Laugh My Art Off)

And that's it for round one. I hope to have the Action Transvestite set, the last of the Doctor Who collection, and a random Pet Shop Boys inspired franken up soon. Let me know if you have any questions about the recipes.

  1. That's a lovely color on you. I'm quite distracted by the thought of your camera having a cat mode.
